What This DHSc Degree Program Guide Covers
The DHSc is a badly documented degree. It has no programmatic accreditor, so no official directory of programs exists, and federal data files it under general health-sciences codes shared with PhDs and clinical doctorates, so counting those codes gives you a number that is far too high and full of the wrong degrees. Most lists of DHSc programs are assembled from marketing copy.
So we do the verification instead. We scan every one of the 709 institutions in the country that reports a health-professions doctorate, load each school's own program listing in a real browser, and add a program only when the university's own page calls the degree a Doctor of Health Science. Every figure on this site, credits, tuition, capstone type, GPA floors, traces to that page or to a federal dataset, and every card links to the source it was read from.

What Jobs a DHSc Degree Leads To
A DHSc points at leadership, teaching and academic administration. It confers no clinical licence, so every role below is one you reach through responsibility rather than scope of practice. The careers overview covers what each job involves day to day.
- Health Services Manager Running a clinical department, a practice, a service line or a whole facility: budgets, staffing, quality and compliance.
- Health Sciences Professor Teaching in a university health professions programme: allied health, therapy, physician assistant studies, health administration.
- Academic Administrator Running an academic unit: programme director, department chair, associate dean, dean.
- Health Education Specialist Designing and running programmes that change health behaviour, in health systems, employers, schools and public agencies.
What DHSc Degree Careers Pay
No agency publishes a salary for DHSc holders, because the wage survey counts occupations rather than degrees. What can be sourced is what the destination roles pay, and what the clinicians who enrol are already earning, which is the number any return calculation has to beat. All of it is on the salary overview.
- Health Services Manager salary Median $123,860 where the degree leads
- Health Sciences Professor salary Median $107,310 where the degree leads
- Academic Administrator salary Median $104,590 where the degree leads
- Health Education Specialist salary Median $64,070 where the degree leads
- Physical Therapist salary Median $102,760 what DHSc students already do
- Occupational Therapist salary Median $100,330 what DHSc students already do
- Physician Assistant salary Median $135,880 what DHSc students already do
How the DHSc Degree Compares With Other Doctorates
The questions that decide whether this is the right degree at all, worked through on the blog rather than guessed at.
- DHSc vs PhD One degree produces research and the other applies it. What that means for your capstone, your funding and whether you can get a faculty job.
- DHSc vs DrPH The DrPH works on populations and can carry CEPH accreditation. The DHSc works inside organisations and has no programmatic accreditor at all.
- DHSc vs DNP The DNP is open to nurses only and carries nursing accreditation. For most readers this comparison answers itself.
- Is a DHSc Worth It What the degree costs, what the destination roles pay, and the four situations where it does not pay for itself.
- DHSc Admission Requirements Master's degrees, GPA floors from 2.5 to 3.4, no GRE, and the entrance essay that is really a research proposal.
