What DHSc Degree Students Earn in the Jobs They Already Hold
These occupations are on this page for a different reason. The DHSc is a post-professional degree, so most of its students arrive already licensed and already earning. These are the salaries they are leaving behind, or more often keeping while they study, and they are the number a return calculation has to beat.

How to Read These DHSc Salary Numbers
Look at the spread before the median. Medical and health services managers has a median of $123,860, but the bottom decile is $73,390 and the top is $224,340. A gap that wide means the median is describing a very mixed group: a practice manager at a three-physician clinic and a vice president at a hospital system are the same occupation code. Where you land in it depends far more on the size of the organisation you work for than on which doctorate you hold.
Then compare against your own current salary rather than against zero. A physician assistant earning the median for that occupation already out-earns the median health services manager. For that reader, a DHSc is not a pay rise waiting to happen, it is a change of career direction that has to be worth making on its own terms. Our guide to whether a DHSc is worth it works through that calculation.
